leave it out
In Japan, you can leave things out overnight secure in the knowledge that it'll still be there in the morning. In most other countries, you can leave things out overnight secure in the knowledge that an opportunist thief will come along and take it away.
Criminal acts do occur in Japan, of course, and sometimes rather bizarre ones at that, but it seems that property theft is low on the agenda for Japanese law breakers.
For newcomers to Japan, I've compiled a list of things that you may or may not be surprised to know that if left out overnight, will still be there in the morning.
Traffic cones.
Potted plants.
Bicycles.....
....well, not always.
Vending machines brimming with alcohol.
Little old ladies.
