wanko of the day

"Kyo no Wanko" is a slot on Japanese breakfast television where the presenter chooses somebody who recently got his back up.

"Kyo no" translates as "Today's", and "wanko" needs no explanation. We all know what one of those is. In English the word is used frequently, usually when someone is annoyed by another person, as in "That guy in accounts is a bit of a wanko."

On Friday's programme the presenter nominated a guy on a Tokyo underground train who refused to give up his seat for a heavily pregnant lady. What a wanko!

he refused to give up his seat?! Japanese men can be really gross/rude sometimes. Then again the women are really really good at saying, "semimasan" in growl akin to a rabid mastif. Maybe it balances out?
