Festival of Litter

Summer in Japan isn't all sweat and mosquitoes. It's also the time to be outside enjoying the festivals, while sweating profusely and battling with the mosquitoes. Festivals of all kinds abound. The Kansai region has its fair share to entertain the crowds. There's the Gion Festival in Kyoto, which is a veritable orgy of colour, noise and aromas. There's also the Tenjin Matsuri in Osaka, which is a veritable orgy of water, boats and fireworks. And then there's the Intercourse Festival in Kobe, which is a veritable orgy.

Finally, there's the lesser known but no less popular Festival of Litter in Takatsuki - it's an orgy of rubbish if ever there was. It is lovely though, with people dressing up in colourful kimonos and throwing garbage at the bins in a variety of manners.
