a tree and a bin
Japan goes in for Christmas as much as they do in English-speaking countries: Decorations. Christmas cake. Vomiting after excessive drinking. And shops like to play festive music and dress their staff in Santa hats too! For Family Mart, it's most definitely a case of "no expense spared" when it comes to their festive decorations.
I happened upon this scene outside one of their shops only last evening. The tree, perhaps imported from Norway, is bedecked with a wonderful array of colourful decorations and lights. Strategically placed to entice customers into the store, the rubbish bin standing next to it creates a charming juxtaposition that serves to enhance the natural beauty of the tree and helps make us feel warm and cosy inside.
Imported from Norway (it looked bigger in the catalogue).
A tree and a bin. One will soon be inside the other.
